Project Seven

BOND STREET, NEW YORK, NY

When the clients moved to Noho they inherited a Japanese inspired rooftop garden from the previous owner. The Japanese Maples were outgrowing their containers and the Bamboo surround, while an excellent screen, was a maintenance issue. The design I created replaced everything but the yew shrubs and focused on a regional planting. Eastern Redbuds and Clethra became the backbones of the garden and Bayberry, Witch-hazel and sun perennials replaced the bamboo screen. I aimed to block out the city and create a vacation from the urban landscape without feeling walled in by soldiered plants.
